I'm frequently asked about the purpose of my trip and why I'd leave for a long period of time to travel. I've always wanted to do this and about two years ago I finally opened a bank account and saved the money. (If you're ever interested in this sort of thing I highly recommend an ING Direct savings account and just take out money each month).
There are two primary reasons: first and foremost, I really want to see different parts of the world. I'm constantly thinking about vacations, how I can save my vacation time and finding the best deal to travel. I've probably spent time with some of you thinking about your trips and parts on the world you'd be interested in seeing and trying to find the best possible flight online.
The second is that I wanted to prove to myself that I could do a solo trip. I was at a party recently and when a guy listened to my response of doing the trip he said, "man, that must be nice to know that you'll always need that your life". I acted cool for a second and then said "Yeah, totally . . . and what? What do you think I'll always need in my life?" and he said "A challenge". Humph, I never had thought about it before but he was right. It will be, without a doubt, a huge challenge for me.
